So first I'll start by saying, somewhere around 4 weeks ago, I completely gave up on the challenge. No, it wasn't a smart move, but apparently its just what I do. Considering the fact that my meds had just changed AND I just learned 3 weeks ago that I was taking my Synthroid medicine the wrong way for it to even work, I really should've stuck to the plan. I'm doing my best to develop a new morning routine so I can take the thyroid meds the correct way and give my body a chance to start processing things right. So one more week and hopefully I'll start back to the whole diet/workout routine thing again. We'll see.
Its been a crazy busy month on top of all that. April 6th we flew out to Texas for Sarah's graduation from the Airforce at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. It was the whole family, Me, Sam, Sammy and Rachel. We are so proud of her. She graduated Friday, April 8th. That Thursday before we got to watch her in the Coin ceremony. I got emotional. She was directing her whole flight and was the one carrying the coin with the Master Trainers. It was pretty awesome to see her shout out commands and watch all the men and women move in unison. I was like "Ohhhh...she did that" LOL - Plus during her 8 weekds at BMT she was Dorm Chief which gave her an edge for leadership. Ahhhh my baby girl has grown up.
The Graduation ceremony was supposed to also be rather emotional, but as luck would have it, we had an incident that altered that whole schedule. Unfortunately, there was an active shooter on the Lackland Airforce Base and the immediate lockdown sent our Airmen right off the field into shelter. We just sat on the bleachers for about 30-40 minutes til we were instructed to go inside another building. By the time they confirmed the shooter was dead and no other threats were evident, we were WAY passed the time of the graduation. So they did a very quick speech, had them do the Airforce creed and swearing in and released them. I would have liked to see all the work they had been prepping for, but I completely understand situations like this does't happen all the time.
After her graduation ceremony, we went into downtown San Antonio. Her father came from PA, so he was with us the whole time as well. We grabbed lunch at the Cheesecake Factory then headed back to the hotel for a quick nap. We were sooo stuffed! Later that afternoon, we went to a Hockey Game for the Texas Rampage. It was a lot of fun, but the hockey team itself was somewhat pitiful compared to the Hershey Bears we are used to from back in PA! Big difference!
On Saturday, she had a free day so we visited the Alamo, took pictures and walked along the Riverwalk - which was beautiful!! Took tons of pictures and had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. The whole time she hung out on her sisters phone all day, lol. She really missed technology!
Later that day we said good bye to Sarah and flew back to SC. It was Sammy's first time flying in and out and he did really well. Didn't seem scared at all - so glad for that!
That Tuesday after we got back, Rachel and I went over to look at a townhouse closer to town. She and Sarah have had plans since we moved here to find a place together after BMT. The specs sounded good, but we weren't sure what to expect since the outside clearly needed updating. We met with the landlord who was probably in his early 30's. Nice guy. So long story short, she loved it and I agreed it would be perfect for her and Sarah. So we had two problems, 1) Sarah wasn't going to be home until the following Monday an 2) Other people were interested in seeing it. Rachel didn't want to lose the townhouse so she took a chance and offered the deposit as a hold. And if for whatever reason Sarah didn't like it, he could keep the deposit with no refund. It was a risky chance seeing that Sarah was returning without a car, current job and would likely just want to sleep all week. But when Sarah returned, she loved it and now its theirs. YAY!!!
So today is Sunday and we are going to be moving all their bedroom stuff over to their place. They have been shopping all week getting little things for their place. Microwave, cookware, utensils and stuff. I can see how excited they both are, and I'm so happy for them. Rachel appears to be slightly stressed because she knows what its like to have little money for extra activities. Sarah (My $$ saver) has no concerns whatsover. LOL Yup...this is apparently how sisters are. Also, yesterday we went with Sarah to find a car. She bought a Toyota and is happy as a clam! AND she got a really good deal on it. With money in the bank, the new townhouse, new car and starting back to work next week, she's on cloud nine. Oh...and she 'talked' to her boyfriend to let him know she's not feeling the relationship. So now she's a free woman too. GOD - I hope she takes things slower from this point. Its been a really crazy ass week for her.
Ok - what else is new. Hmmmm... We bought kayaks a few weeks ago. Can't wait to get the out on the lake. Its April 24th and will be close to 90 degrees today, so maybe later we'll get to do that.
Pool opens next week. I'm stoked about that! Yay South!
Ok - gotta go.
