So somewhere mid February, Emily (Hannah's sister) came to live with us as well. Shortly after that I was able to get myself listed as her guardian/caretaker with the High School. There's not really a name for it since she is 18 years of age. However, even at 18 someone other than her needs to be there to sign her out. And that person MUST be listed as one of her contacts. It was a 2 week long fiasco, but it ended with everything in our favor.
We knew we were planning our annual trip to Florida in May. Disney and stuff. Of course we want Emily to come with us, but I also know that she has had an extremely large amount of absences. Mostly due to doctor appointments. And none of them were half-day type of leave. You see the school will accept an absence with a doctor's excuse. But in her case, she couldn't find anyone (definitely not her mother) to come to the school to sign her out. Therefore on days she may have had like a 9am appointment, she just took the whole day off. Ugh.
That brings me back to our vacation. I e-mailed the school and basically copied the letter I sent them last year for Hannah. That all assignments would be accounted for and she would stay in contact with her teachers to make sure she completes anything needed upon her return and so on. However, I also know for a fact she cannot miss more than 3 days of E-con class. (sick or not) So I sent the email to the principal anyway - LOL. Low and Behold a miracle happened on Friday, April 26th. The principal called me himself and said he personally was going to approve this whole week off so that Emily could go to Disney. Say Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I was delirious with excitement!! Especially since 3 out 4 people told me there would be NO way it will get approved. Go Girl! *patting self on back*
So in 3 weeks our crew is headed to our place in Florida for a week. But next week I'll be in New Jersey again to watch my grand-baby while my daughter fulfills more of her National Guard Days. But this time Rachel and Caleb are joining me. Oh and Layla (their doggie). It'll be fun.
Now for some ranting:
This past weekend we went to the airshow in Beaufort. It was really nice. For me anyway. If anyone else enjoyed it, their minds forgot to tell their face. The final show of the day was a performance by non other than the Blue Angels. *giggity* By that time, however, everyone was tired, hot and cranky! Although Sam started the day with being cranky and pretty much followed suit the whole day. At one point during the airshow, I went to go get food with Hannah and George (her boyfriend). When we returned, Sam and our boy were gone. So was the blanket and Hannah's purse. Hmmm.... I checked my phone. No message. I said they must've had to go to the bathroom. So we sat down on the ground and watched the planes for a while as they ate their food. 10 minutes later and no sign of Sam and Sammy, I text Sam. 'Where Are U?' Another 10 minutes later I get an answer saying they moved. Well no shit. I asked 'where?' After a few more texts asking for more specifics other than 'The building", it turns out he moved right next to where we were buying the food. Which wouldn't seem like a big deal unless you saw how far away the food stands were from where we left them originally. I let Hannah and George eat their food and then we walked over to where they had relocated. Because I couldn't ( or wouldn't) hide my frustration, I asked why he didn't text to tell me they moved. He said because the boy was clutching to him. Apparently the loud F22 jets were a little too much for Sammy even WITH ear plugs and the noise-canceling headphones. I understood because they were even loud for me. And I'm old with a high chance that I'm part deaf. LOL
For the next 30 minutes though Hannah kept mumbling under her breath, but why didn't he tell us before we walked all the way over there that he was literally right beside us? He could have text because when we walked all the way back over, there he was standing with the boy - just playing on his phone? (her feet were killing her) Honestly, I didn't take note to what he was doing when we spotted them. I just waved and smiled. And.....I didn't offer her any explanations other than - Just Sam being Sam. Inside my mind I was screaming Because He's an Asshole - that's why!! This is my life.
As you can imagine after we were home and by the time the evening rolled around, I was content just saying g'night and getting my Sunday Night Game of Thrones on by myself up in our room. Plus I was irritated when I asked if he wanted to watch it. His response was "Well yes I plan on watching it, but you can go upstairs to watch it." Ummm.... huh? I couldn't tell if that was a hint at 'hey I've had enough of you for a day - get going' or 'I'm going to watch it here, but its ok if you need to go to bed, you can watch it upstairs - I don't mind' So knowing my husband, and his lack of saying anything that ends with 'I don't mind' I just grabbed my phone, my water and went to bed.
Maybe I was the cranky one.
We shall never know.
