First of all, I can't believe I almost had a complete meltdown over the fact I couldn't remember my password to get in to Diaryland!!! Seriously! My OCD went into full on FREAK OUT mode! But, whew..... I finally went backwards on how to get my password and BOOM. I'm in! Now to record this shit anywhere and everywhere so this doesn't happen again.
Funny thing is I wrote this information down on a Rolodex card like 15 years ago. Because, yes we used Rolodex's back then. And, up until August I had that Rolodex card neatly tucked away in a wallet. But....and there's always a but. I decided two months ago that I never use a wallet anymore. I have have two cards. My Driver's License and My Credit Card. Why do I need a wallet? So I sold that said wallet at a yard-sale. No, not with my password info in it, but I remember taking everything out and doing something with it. Like..... maybe just throwing it away? I am the anti-hoarder after all. So yeah, I'm writing this info in every place I looked for it this morning. LOL
Ok - now onto life updates.
I didn't go back and read my last entry, so I'm just going to shoot from the hip here.
Going back to last week. Sam's Pappy passed away. He was 96 year's old. His health was failing him for the past month. We kept thinking if we make the 8 hour trip, we may get there and he will be gone. So we didn't. But he kept on hanging on. Don't you know we decided last Tuesday to pack up the car in an hour and head up to Pennsylvania. We weren't even 10 minutes away and we received notification that he passed. So....
We went back home and unpacked and waited to hear about the arrangements for his services. The next day we decided to head up anyway. We were at a different service that Friday for our best friends' father. A Celebration of Life. And on Monday (of this week) we were at Pappy's services.
I will say when my time comes, there better be a Celebration of Life. With lots and lots of booze!! The difference between these two services were totally amazing. 1) Climate Control. It was cold as fuck in PA. Yes, the South has made me weak and intolerant of cold weather, but holy shit! I was chilled the whol 5 days we were there! 2) Overall mood. Laughter and sharing stories is such a better way to be remembered. And folks, I'm just not a JESUS person. I enjoy believing there is a heaven, but I don't need a pastor constantly saying... please raise your hand if you need to be saved. I'm here and I want to pay my respects to the person who has passed, we don't need to make this into a church service do we? Gahhhhhwd! 3) Booze. I can't help but think the people I know and love would certainly appreciate being able to have booze when remembering me. Isn't that how most of us spent our most memorable times together? and 4) All Inclusive. Everyone shows up, you drink, you remember, you share stories and you eat. Its all-in-one. No sitting around a depressing funeral parlor for hours, no viewing, no running off to a soggy or frozen cemetery and not following a stream of cars to a gathering at a local Fire Hall. Note: I'm saying Fire Hall cannot be the location of my Celebration of Life. It's just too much traveling all over the place. 5)Time. Let's face it, all this stuff mentioned in #4 takes no less than 4-5 hours. Who has time for that? I would like my friends and family to know that I respect their time as well.
So there you have it. My 5 reasons to have that Celebration of Life over a funeral.
Ok - now let's go back 3 months. The summer was super super busy. Lots of weekend trips and a few midweek trips. My daughter was pregnant for all of 8 weeks and unfortunately lost the baby. She was disappointed. And to be honest, so was I. But she's only 20 and it just wasn't meant to be. Needless to say, she has been cleared by her OB GYN to start trying again. For the record, she wasn't trying that first time. It just happened.
Since July we've been on trips to North Carolina for exploring a few musueums, historical sites, aquarium and of course awesome Pubs! We had a weekend of tubing, there was a few days at the Beach in Isle of Palms near Charleston, then Lake Keowee upstate. We also visited the Casinos in NC. THAT was a blast!! I think our last fun trip was to Hilton Head, Daufuskie Island. We spend the whole day exploring the island by golf cart. Yes, we brought the boy. We even let him drive, lol. We were able to grab beers and drinks at all of the little restaurants and shops, so our cooler was never empty HA!. By August, I was certainly ready for school to start.

Apparently the start of school was also time for me to realize that I needed to get serious about losing weight. I tried some time around June to do a portion control diet. I think I lost 5lbs. It really opened my eyes to how much I was over-eating. But..... that didn't last long and let's face it, with all the traveling and adventurous weekends and countless parties, I didn't exactly make the best choices. And beer. Lots and lots of beer. And shots. What can I say, we enjoy having drinks. DRANKS!!!
Ok, so in August I was suppose to join my friend Cindy and her daughter for yet another outing. Just a few days in Disney. However, it was Sam's 40th birthday and I decided I probably should be here with him to do something special. Because you only turn 40 once, right? He even said, he didn't care if I went, but he's a guy. Of course he will pretend that it means nothing to him. I knew it did. So I stayed. I also had spoken to my friend Michele earlier that week who said she was going to crack down on dieting and join Weight Watchers. The Tuesday that was the day before my hubby's birthday. I told her I needed to do something too, so I would be happy to join with her and see if I could stay on it this time. Believe me, I teetered between going to Florida and staying home for the birthday thing, but WW seem like yet another reason I should stay home. Ha. Even though I wasn't too hopeful about diet success seeing how that whole portion control thingy worked out for me. I'm all about supporting friends.
Anyho....it turns out, my friend Michele only followed it for a week. I think she went to 2 meetings. 1 Week! She never brought it up again in our morning conversations.
But me? I'm still on it. In fact it will be 3 months this week. I feel fantastic. I look amazing AND I'm down 30lbs. Yafreakinhooooo! 30lbs!!!! I still have about 18lbs more to go, but seriously! I started at 195 and I'm down to 164lbs now. It varies. I did weigh-in at 166 this morning after the weekend of funeral services, but that's because I was barely physically active. And PA gave me a cold. I haven't had a cold since I left PA! Thanks to Nyquil I'm on the healing side of it now.
My Fitbit has been a significant help (guide) for me too. In fact after the weekend, it has been congratulating me on getting back on track. LOL - thanks buddy! I wore my Fitbit all weekend. I was barely getting in 6,000 steps a day. One day it was less than 3k. And that was with a 40 minute workout at the hotel fitness center. Ugh. So much sitting. Driving and sitting. Services and Sitting. Eating and Sitting. Sitting and Sitting. I'm surprised I only had a 2lb gain. But I did eat well. And I didn't drink tons of alcohol. Just a few drinks each night.
Yesterday was my first morning back here at home. I had 4,000 steps by 9am. It was 16k when I went to bed. THAT is my normal day. I average between 15-20k steps a day. Because I never sit still. *VIBRATING*
So, that's what's up. What's new. And What's happening.
Now to go write down my password. :)
Later.
