As usual, I'm not even sure where to begin...
I'll start with vacation.
The family did get to go on vacation to Corolla September 6th through 13th. It was a nice vacation, not great. I could definitely feel the tension in the air as Sam did manage to take the whole week 'off' to go. When I say 'off' I mean - out of Enola and physical meetings. Otherwise, he pretty much DID work the entire time. Missed a few glorious moments on the beach and outings with the kids. Otherwise, I'm VERY glad he was there. He made the beach one day. To be fair...we only went to the beach a few times because we had a TON of rain.
On a good note, I got to the gym and/or ran every day of vacation. Sam even went for a run twice I think. (Its a start) I had homework of workouts from my trainer, so I felt obligated to stay on track. It really helped to not sabotage the whole diet/fitness thing I had going on.
Had.
We came back from vacation on Saturday. Sunday we rested, then Monday we were back to our crazy hectic schedules. Monday morning, the 15th we had an 8:00 a.m. meeting with the school to discuss Sammy's IEP. It went very well. Sam went off to work and I went home to get ready for the gym.
Suddenly around 9:00 a.m. I started getting pain in my left side at my breast area. I had just gotten the nipples reconstructed on August 19th and had NOT felt any pain at all. Suddenly I couldn't even stand wearing my sports bra. I held off going to the gym and eventually called the my plastic surgeon about the pain.
Long story short, I ended up with some kind of bacteria in my blood through the not-quite-healed nipples during our week at the beach. It could have been from the ocean, pool, or hot tub. Pick one. I was in all three!
So after my temps ran up to 104 degrees that Monday, I drove myself to the doctors office. He admitted me to the hospital immediately where I had to spend 5 days. Ugh. Knowing Sam had just return to work that Monday, I didn't even call him until the dr. said I was going into the hospital. Believe me, I was in so much pain, I couldn't even text. Every movement hurt!
That week in the hospital drove me nuts. I felt like a human pin cushion and all I really wanted was to be home in my own bed. The bed was slightly uncomfortable there. On top of all that, I received multiple texts and phone calls from Sam because he had very little clue on a normal day with Sammy. LOL... guess it was all a bit of an eye opener for him. He did a pretty good job, but I don't think he had any idea of how much I do every day around the house and with Sammy.
So after I got out, I had 8 weeks of giving myself antibiotics through a central PICC line. I found out I was allergic to Vancomycin after I broke out head to toe in hives. I really could have done without yet another ailment. On top of all that I wasn't allowed to take a shower or get the PICC line wet in any way. Exercising was banned! Seriously.... There went my fitness routine.
I gained almost 15 lbs during those 8 weeks. I feel like a blob. You would have thought I would at the very least diet hard during those 8 weeks, but nooooo. My birthday was in October and I had a 4 week obsession with cake!
But now the PICC line is out and I'm finally allowed to move more now. It was just removed Friday November 6th and I'm slowly getting myself back into the swing of things. I still can't do any lifting because they end up replacing the left implant on October 27th so I still have a restriction for a month. But now I'm dieting and working in more physical activities, including squats and stairs.
So that about wraps up the Vacation to Hospital saga. Maybe I'll find time later to journal about something else. :)
